NOW IS THE TIME TO BE ON THE WATER! We are into the prime months of fly fishing in Central New York. For the most part, fly fishing conditions have been pretty good. Naturally, some days are better than others, as it always is with fishing. New handcrafted fly fishing nets are in stock!
oneida lake ice fishing
While we are fortunate to have year round fly fishing in Central New York, I enjoy jigging perch and walleye through the ice on Oneida Lake in the winter months as well. As safe ice allows, Oneida Lake is a fun fishery, providing excellent numbers of perch and walleye. Though a challenge to catch at times, both are outstanding table fare. All ages and angling experiences are welcome. A heated shanty, with hot coffee or hot chocolate, and trying to catch dinner is an excellent way to get outdoors in the winter for some family fun.

All fishing gear is provided. Licenses are not provided, but are required for everyone ages 16 and up. Please purchase and have a print out, or a download, of your license readily available prior to the trip.

Warm winter clothes, waterproof boots, hats, gloves, and sunglasses (very important!) are necessities. Ice grippers for your boots are excellent to have.

All trips are on foot. I do not utilize machines on the ice. It is a half mile to one mile walk out to fishing locations.

Please note - I do not provide fish cleaning service. I will show you how to fillet/clean a fish or two, but I do not/cannot clean all of your catch for you.

Oneida Lake Ice Fishing Report/Updates
February 28th, 2024 - Open water the entire lake. I've packed gear away and turned my attention to building Edgewood Outdoors fishing nets and fly fishing. Better luck in 2025? Who knows... this is the 3rd year in a row of short ice or no good ice. For those of you who continue to be interested in trips, I appreciate your consideration. Maybe I'll see you on the creeks!
