Still plenty of fly fishing in Central New York and Syracuse on the trout creeks in the winter. While it's not the prime fly fishing spring provides, and we have to choose days with favorable conditions, there is still opportunity to fly fish in the winter in Central NY. Don't forget, my handcrafted wood fly fishing nets are ready to ship if you're looking for a fly fishing gift!

All equipment is provided (rods, reels, lines, flies, etc...) with the exception of waders. Wader rental is available at $25/day per pair of waders as I have plenty of waders and boots ready to go.
-
Sunglasses are a must! Not only do they help you see in the water and protect your eyes from the bright sun and reflection, but they protect your eyes from a potential rogue hook.
-
Long sleeves, hats, and sunscreen are highly recommended. Sunburns hurt and I've seen them drain people physically and ruin an otherwise beautiful day on the water. Please be prepared.
-
If there is a chance of rain, bring a rain jacket. I always have some extra rain gear with me in the event you forget yours.
-
Dress in layers. It is easier to shed layers than to be unprepared and cold. On ice fishing trips, there is heat in the shanty, but dress appropriately for the cold and snow. We have to walk across the ice before we get into the heated shelter.
